Program constantly locks up when going to folders that have a lot of files in them. I suspect if you are new to paper port and do not have a lot stored in it, you will not have these issues. I have used multiple versions of Paper port starting with version on floppy. Then force shut down and restart computer and program. Lots of patients needed. Have to start up and immediatly re-sort files. If browsing folders, expect lock up.
Previous versions did not give me these issues, so I bought ver 8 then version 9. It is absurd that now nuance is controloing owner, you have to pay for support. I have lots of folder and lots of files from many years. That will lock up the program. Now it will open that folder. Do not recommend 9 except that pdf create and edit is nice. Wish I could get some support.
I've used PaperPort 9 for about 3 years, currently running under Win XP. so I could get rid of more paper documents. I download bank and credit card statements and other documents to it from the Internet; I store faxed documents in it; I scan checks before I deposit them; I use it to convert documents to pdf so I can e-mail them.
A lawyer friend of mine raves about it. 10 adds those features, but for the money, V.9 is a bargain. I love it, my wife loves it, I have bought it for my kids, and recommend it to others.
The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that I wish it were more convenient to do a couple of things; maybe V. I've had no problems with it. (I had to downlaod and install an upgrade, but more recent production probably has the upgrade already incorporated).
I just wish I had a faster scanner (what do you expect for $60). Highly recommended as a start toward the paperless office.
Works well most (95%) of the time. Slight improvement over v8.
The program does all that was claimed for it and was delivered in excellent time.Scansoft's poor support is the only reason that I did not award 5 stars. (You should not have to pay for support for a just-purchased product)
This kind of treatment of customers makes it clear that they do not deserve our business. Now I can no longer scan using my Brother MFC-9700 and Paperport 9. Worked okay until I installed XP Service Pack 2. Don't take my word for it. It has been a long time since Service Pack 2 was released, and Scansoft has left everyone who bought Paperport 9 in the cold. I could not care less if they now come up with software that is compatible with SP2. Google the issue, and you'll find out that there are a lot of dissatisfied customers. From now on, I'll avoid Scansoft.
